In regard to rising gas prices, is Toyota Corolla a good choice?

my 2007 toyota corolla gives 30 mpg in city and 38 mpg on highway. I calculated and discovered that a 10 gallon tank of gas lasts 338 miles. Which is about 33.8 mpg combined city and highway. Is that good fuel economy for non-hybrid car? i know hybrids give lot of good mileage but their electric batteries and stuff is very hazardous and bad. I think corolla gives one of the best fuel economy for a gasoline engine.
