Anime and Aspergers Syndrome?

I don't want to base this off a stereotype. But it made me think. How come most anime fans or some I apologize. Have autism/aspergers. People will often make jokes"having aspergers ain't so bad, you have adept knowledge of transformers and anime." So are the japanese just marketing anime to us aspies? I have aspergers(high functioning) I LOVE ANIME AND VIDEO GAMES. SO does that have any significance?
